Sales Analysis: Air Jordan 3 “Wolf Grey” - All Howl, No Bite

940x551q80

Jordan Brand experimented with a few new color ways of the Air Jordan 3 this year and the reactions were mixed, especially after they decided not to release the Black Cement 88 Retro. On top of the cancellation, Jordan Brand cancelled the Air Jordan 3 indefinitely (but we expect it next Spring) and we were left with color ways like Sport Blue and Wolf Grey.

This color way of the Air Jordan 3 brought back a combination of colors last popularized by the Air Jordan 5 years ago and ShoeFax will now show you whether or not this sneaker was successful on the market.

The Air Jordan 3 ” Wolf Grey ” features a Wolf Grey leather upper that utilizes plenty of Black along the elephant print exterior, midsole, eyelets, eye stay, tongue, collar, and laces. White is used sparingly on the midsole, toe cap, and liner for a casual color way that received a few restocks and did not sell out initially.

Pairs sold for approximately $220 a month before hottest celebrities release and dipped below its retail price of $170 before the sneaker even released. By the time the sneaker released on July 19th, the shoe took a steady rise to approximately $215 before dipping again in August. The sneaker has since been rising and falling around the $175-$200 range for the most part and maintains an average selling price of $165 online.940x713q80

The Air Jordan 3 “Wolf Grey” has been through its ups and downs quite literally in the sales department but as of the past 3 months, the sneaker has held a sell-through rate of 37.36%. Thousands of pairs have sold over the months and pairs are going for an average price of $165 which is under retail!

If you factor in retail + tax and potentially shipping + fees, this release was definitely a failure to many resellers. Consumers were able to pick up pairs for themselves at a slightly lower price so that is a positive aspect of the release. Let us know if you picked up a pair or tried selling a few and stay tuned to ShoeFax for the next exclusive Sales Analysis!
