The Air Jordan 6 “Sport Blue” is a timeless classic that released way back in the 90s and hadn’t received a retro release unlike nearly every other color way on the silhouette. When word got out that this color way would be dropping in 2014, the sneaker community celebrated with extreme anticipation.
However, not even the hype of a first time retro release could save the resale value of the Sport Blue Air Jordan 6. After a general release over the Summer and multiple restocks worldwide, the initial value of the sneaker plummeted from $400 to approximately $250. Now, ShoeFax is showing you the sales data of the Air Jordan 6 “Sport Blue” before and after the August 30th release.
Avg Price. $192.17
Jordan Brand brought back plenty of classics this year and after the Infrared AJ6 dropped in the beginning of 2014, JB made sure to release the Sport Blue color way. The sneaker initially released through retailers at a retail price of $170, and the sneaker went straight to the resell market for $200-250. Pairs took a while to sell and even after the initial sell out, Nike restocked them a few times to saturate the market. After the initial drop, sales plummeted further since the release and stay around the $190-$220 range with an average of $192.17.
The chart below shows that the Sell-through percentage of the listings were at a low of 37.30%, due to thousands of pairs hitting the market while the demand on the resell market decreased rapidly. Regardless, thousands of pairs still sold at an average price of $192 but after retail and tax plus potential shipping costs, that means many resellers made absolutely nothing.
